Katherine de Kleer is an Assistant Professor of Planetary
Science and Astronomy at Caltech. Her research
group investigates the surfaces, atmospheres, and thermochemical histories of
Solar System bodies through studying observational signatures at
optical, infrared, and radio wavelengths. Current research topics include:
the galilean satellite surfaces and atmospheres; the
volcanism and tidal heating of Io; planetesimal heating and
differentiation as probed by asteroid mineralogy and surface heterogeneity; and the seasonal evolution of planet and
satellite atmospheres. More detail on each of these areas can
be found under the Research tab.
