William E. Leonhard Professor of Mineral Physics
Seismological Laboratory

Jackson's research group invites undergraduate students to get involved in topics related to combining experimental results with geophysical methods to better understand Earth's complex interior. By combining a suite of spectroscopic methods, the involved student will determine the elastic, vibrational, and chemical properties of candidate planetary materials under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. We will integrate these results with seismic observations and geodynamic modeling. Other projects are also available. Please contact Prof. Jackson for more details.

Undergraduate research in Jackson's laboratory is funded in part by the NSF's Research Experience for Undergraduates.
